Pioneers is an outdoor learning program for home learners in Kindergarten through Grade 4, bringing math, science, and literacy into the natural world through inquiry, exploration, and hands-on learning.

 

Our days combine intentional lessons with opportunities to investigate real-world questions. Children measure, compare, experiment, create, and document their discoveries, developing an understanding of academic concepts through experiences they can see, touch, and test. From exploring mathematical patterns to investigating scientific properties and creating with natural materials, learning becomes something children actively participate in.

 

Through a process of noticing, questioning, exploring, making, and documenting, children are encouraged to think critically, share their reasoning, test ideas, and reflect on what they've learned. Along the way, they develop confidence, independence, problem-solving skills, and meaningful connections with their peers and the natural world.
